Speaker Biography:

Prof. Russell Foster is Professor of Circadian Neuroscience at the University of Oxford and Director of the Sir Jules Thorn Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, as well as Head of the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology. A leading authority on sleep and biological rhythms, his research has explored how light regulates the body’s internal clock and included the landmark discovery and characterisation of a previously unrecognised light-sensing system in the eye that influences circadian rhythms and sleep. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2008 and appointed CBE in 2015 for services to science.
